BlueBuddy is a J2ME application for Java-enabled mobile phones with JSR-82(bluetooth), users(up to 
can use it to chat with other users through bluetooth. The main benefit is there is no chatting fees, however, it's only capable for short range communication(about 10m for mobile phones).
The following screenshots illustrate a chat between Olnex and Jack, Olnex created the chatroom.
BlueBuddy2 supports Chinese characters as well, mixture of English and Chinese also works nicely.
There is a list of bluetooth phones in Java Bluetooth, you can check if your phone is in the list, however, due to the late updating, new bluetooth phones may not be in the list. BlueBuddy need at least CLDC 1.0, MIDP 2.0 and JSR 82.

Blueeee! uses Bluetooth technology to communicate directly with another mobile phone running Blueeee!, bypasses the cellular network, and therefore does not cost any money at all.
